This episode is the garden To Do list for the month of March – still some cold (and hopefully wet) weather left. Days are getting longer and warmer.
- Summer vegetables – start them inside or greenhouse or direct sow. Tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, eggplant
- Direct sow sunflowers & other summer annuals (such as zinnias)
- Plant:
- Beets, broccoli, carrots, celery, swiss chard, kale, loose leaf lettuce, radish, potatoes, turnips
- Perennials
- Summer blooming bulbs (gladiolus, amaryllis, lilies)
- Dahlias
- Preemptively spray for whiteflies – release encarsia
- Nematodes for soil
- Prune – citrus, once blooming plants (forsythia, quince, camellias)
- Check irrigation
